WATER FROM AN ANCIENT WELL is a feature documentary film that celebrates the life and times of Abdullah Ibrahim, one of the world’s greatest piano players and composers – of whom Nelson Mandela said: “Bach, Beethoven… we’ve got better!”
He is the last surviving member of a generation of jazz giants, an elite which included his mentor Duke Ellington and the legends with whom he played.
His life story is not only the story of modern jazz at its most sublime, but also a reflection of the modern world.
WATER FROM AN ANCIENT WELL Began production in March 2023 in Belgium.
Filming will take place in: Switzerland, Italy, Germany, America, Japan and South Africa.
